В статье рассматривается многовариативное государственно-правовое понятие империи через призму его восприятия в современной теоретико-правовой науке и государствоведении. Раскрываются категориально-понятийные особенности империи и её базисные характеристики как самостоятельной комплексной формы государства. Автор приходит к выводу о том, что империя – это особая политико-правовая форма государства, которая, как правило, включает в себя монархическую форму правления, форму территориального устройства, при которой в состав государства входят регионы, обладающие признаками государственности (ограниченным суверенитетом), а также особую форму внешней политики, направленную на постоянное расширение своего влияния, присоединение новых территорий (колоний, сателлитов) и создание протекторатов, системы зависимых территорий, постоянное включение новых территорий в сферу своего влияния и интеграция этих территорий на основе общих ценностей (идеологии).

The article examines the multivariate state-legal concept of empire through the prism of its perception in modern theoretical and legal science and state studies. The categorical and conceptual features of the empire and its basic characteristics as an independent complex form of the state are revealed. The author comes to the conclusion that the empire is a special political and legal form of the state, which, as a rule, includes a monarchical form of government, a form of territorial structure in which the state includes regions with signs of statehood (limited sovereignty), as well as a special form of foreign policy aimed at the permanent expansion of its influence, the annexation of new territories (colonies, sattelites) and the creation of protectorates, a system of dependent territories, the permanent inclusion of new territories in its sphere of influence and the integration of these territories on the basis of common values (ideology).
